Sammy lay on her back on the soft dewey grass, absentmindedly playing with one of her chocolate curls while enjoying the soft warm summery breeze that drifted across the grounds, carrying with it the perfumed scent of flowers occassionally. She took no care or notice about the fact that her jeans would most likely wet and grass-stained from laying there and instead just enjoyed the outside, for that was just how Sammy was.
The bright glowing orb which was the moon towered high above the nearly deserted grounds of Hogwarts, casting upon it a pale shimmering glow. It's effervescent glimmer made even Sammy's tanned skin from spending so much time outside appear to be pale and it shone silver on her hair. Despite the late time she felt wide awake and completely comfortable where she was. Her cheeks looked rosy, from the coolness of when the breeze did not blow in and her make-up from earlier that day was still visible on her features, having not even attempted to go to bed yet though it was well past midnight.
Sammy's emerald eyes gazed upon the dark velvety sky, which was dotted with many groups of bright stars, and the moon along with it. She counted and named the constellations in her head, which she was taught by her older brother during their nighttime adventures when they were younger and he was not yet obsessed with work and scheduling. She had just finished locating the big and little dipper when something in the sky caught her attention.
A lone star. It rocketed in the sky and soared in a great, rainbow-like arch above the others, shimmering and dancing high above her head. Sammy recognized it at once as a shooting star. She remembered something that her brother Xander had told her about shooting stars: that if you made a wish on it that it would come true.
Amusedly Samantha thought jokingly to herself, looking up at the star, I wish I had someone to talk to, it's unnaturally quiet and boring out here without anybody. When she finished making her wish the star, as if it were a sign, disapeared. She laughed to herself about her own gullibleness until a noise reached her alert, trained ears.
A rythmic thudding sound-such as one walking-approaching her from somewhere in the distance. Someone-or something walking towards her. The closer her pursuer advanced the louder their walking became until she could see the dim outline of their body. Squinting to make out who it was before they reached her, she sat up on her spot, wishing she had not left her wand in her dormitory. The darkness was too dense for her to see whom it was until they stood above her, poised and straight-backed. Sammy let their gaze meet for just the briefest momemt before the newcomer spoke...
