"What are you looking at?" Melissa asked, noticing that Hitomi was looking up at the ceiling. She herself glanced up a few times trying to decipher what was so interesting.

Hitomi finished chewing. "Nothing." she said, laughing a little.

Melissa was more bewildered than ever, as she watched Hitomi laugh at an invisible something.
"Do you need a nurse?" she asked, afraid that her friend was having delusions.

Hitomi looked at Melissa. "No, I'm fine!" she said, laughing a little again.

"Ok, if you say so," Melissa said, although she wasn't entirely sure that Hitomi was being truthful, and was still curious about why she was laughig. However, she decided to drop the subject until later.
"Do you guys know what time it is?"

At that precise moment, Juliet burst into the carriage, her arms ladden with a large mountain of wizarding sweets, cauldron cakes, pumpkin pasties, and flasks of pumpkin juice. She looked more like a food stand at a carnival rather than a girl. She walked over to an empty bench where she dumped the latter of the snacks, some of it falling and scattering among the floor.
"It is 2:00 I believe, " she said, taking a seat next to the candy and helping herself to a flask of pumpkin juice and a cauldron cake. She felt suddenly awkward eating alone and she said raising an eyebrow, surprised that they hadn't started eating as soon as she did, "Help yourselves."

Melissa laughed at Juliet. She was always grateful for Juliet's odd habit of having perfect timing, and today was no different: Even after everything that she had already eaten that day, she was still hungry for more and gladly took a pumpkin pastie off of the top of the pile and started to eat it ravenously.
"When did you get all of this?" She asked, curious to know when she found the time to treat them all to a late lunch.

"Summer jobs pay surprisingly well. I'm surprised I even made itt his far. You know me. I've got commitment issues when it comes to physical labor." Juliet laughed, tucking her dirty-blonde hair behind her ear. "I thought my boss would've fired me by the end of the first week, but he kept me on surprising- he thinks I'm 'mildly entertaining'" she said, using finger-quotes.
"I got all this from the snack trolley. I probably bought about half of it, " Juliet said, with a grin. She was exagerating of course; she had always been a bit over-dramatic. It didn't matter though. She knew they would understand what she was saying. She had already finished her pasty by then, and had started on a box of Bertie Bott's every-flavour beans.
" So, what have you two been up to?" she asked casually, leaning back in her seat luxuriously, feeling right at home in the warm, compacted compartment.

"Nothing much really. Just been bored out of my mind at my grandparents house." Melissa said before she shoved a whole chocolate frog in her mouth. "My grandparents got really protective this summer: They wouldn't let me out of their sights for 2 minutes."

"That sucks." Juliet said empathically. She knew how Melissa felt. It seemed like Juliet was always plotting some mischiefous scheme or getting herself into trouble one or or another, and her mother always kept a watchful eye on her.
"That's why I got a job. See, if I'm not home then my mum can't watch me constantly. She did try to be slick the first day I worked though. She disguised herself as Lily with a poly-juice potion, but she forgot to take off the bracelet I got her for mothers day.
"She caught me eating a candy-bar from the counter, and tried giving me a Lily-ish lecture but it didn't work out. I told my mum that I knew it was her and she scowled at me, then watched me pay for the candy I had eaten, when I was already going to in the first place." Juliet laughed disdainfully, "She thinks I have no morals, It's like she doesn't even trust me."
"I may be mischiefous but I know where to draw the line." Juliet scoffed. Feeling somwehat awkward, she changed the subject. "So...what are you guys looking forward to doing this year in school?"

"I'm looking forward to going to hogsmeade." Melissa said. "I didn't get to visit the village all last year after I had dyed the black lake orange on Halloween."
