A young girl at the age of sixteen walked silently past a number of fellow students her age or younger. Her deep blue eyes darted to her surroundings as though she were intimidated as to where she was. Alissa Bradbury was always like that. She never really made any friends during her six years of schooling for she was to shy most of the time. When people ever tried taling to her she'd only stutter. If only she'd stop that dastardly stutter of hers she'd probably make a friend or two.
Always lacking confidence in herself because of her shyness. Her long straight brown hair hung over her shoulders a tad as she walked on carrying a large book. One she borrowed from the Library to read for entertainment. Nothing inside the book was important for it was just a story book. She paused when she heard shouts from up ahead where she was going. 'What is happening?' she thought curiously as she slowed her pace. Not wanting to accidentally interrupt something. Her eyes caught sight of two students arguing amongst themselves for reasons she'd never know.
The two didn't pay any mind to her as she past them. It was always like this. Alissa was so quiet not many noticed her. She liked it that way because to much attention scared her a lot. Her heart still pounded though when she went by. Using the book as a sort of shield to hide her as she went. 'Well, at least no one's picking on me!' she thought as she rounded the corner and leapt aside. She clutched her book tightly as she looked frightened at the person she nearly knocked over. "I-I-I'm sorry!" she said. The annoying stutter of hers emitting as always.

"Its ok!" Hitomi replied to the girl she had just ran into. "My mistake!" Hitomi was suprised at how scared the girl looked. "Are you ok?" Hitomi said in a quiet caring way.

Alissa caught more detail of whom she nearly ran into. It was another girl. She hadn't realized that her fear was evident on her face until the girl asked her if she was alright. Thing was, Alissa was frightened of any human contact. That's what being shy made one do. She idn't lower her book as she clutched it tightly to her with white knuckles. Eyes still wide.
"I-I'm okay!" she exclaimed though it was quite obvious she wasn't. Why did she always have to fear everyone around her? Why couldn't she be a nromal student like everybody else? The fear was what she wished she could get rid of but being shy that was hardly accompished. She didn't tremble but her heart was racing a bit as her face seemed oddly pale. Hopefully, the other girl wasn't thinking she was stuck-up. That's what most people assumed shy people were when in fact they weren't.
They just feared people in general and had difficulty interacting. It was her father's fault for making her have a sheltered life. Not letting her go out and hang around younger wizarding children when she was little. Then again, it was hard for her dad to play Mr. Mom since he never knew how to deal with living alone with his daughter then.

"Are you sure?" Hitomi asked, setting her hands lightly on the girls shoulders. "Here, sit down." She was speaking in the same soft voice as before, which was hopefully helping.

(Naw! I'm just too much of a veteran! XDDD!)
Alissa tried hard not to pass out when the girl placed her hands on her shoulders. She felt her heart beat more rapidly because of her fear but she fought it as best she could. The other obviously knew she was scared nearly half to death. Alissa nodded and st where she was. Still clutching the book as hough she could disappear within it or something. However, she was slowly beginning to calm down more.
It's not like the other meant anything harmful to Alissa. 'Why must I be so frightened of everything?!' she thought bitterly though her eyes were still wide a bit. Her heart still beating rapidly. She prayed she could make it calm down for once. She didn't mean to make the other girl worried if she was. Besides, not everyone was mean. She took in a deep breath as she then said "I....I'm sorry i-if I seem like I may be sick. I-I'm just timid is a-all!" She was surprised she was brave enough to even say that.
Normally, Alissa would just faint or bid a run for freedom. She had been picked on quite a lot when she was younger so that also made it hard for her to react with others normally. However, this girl was nice so Alissa's heart beat was beginning to slow knowing that the other was friendly and not at all mean like some of those that picked on her in the past.

"Oh no, its ok." Hitomi said, smiling down at the girl. "I'm Hitomi." she said, still in the same nice voice.

Alissa felt a bit relieved that she wasn't offending the other girl acting the way she was. Finally, after a minute had gone by her heart's pace returned to normal. Allowing her to breathe better rather than short breaths from fear. She stopped clenching the book tightly as though it were her savior or something. Lowering it to her knees as her eyes went back to normal. She still looked from the people walking by before looking back to the other girl.
She was alright with Alissa being shy. Now she knew the girl's name. Hitomi. Alissa never heard a name like this before but it was a pretty one. Smiling, she replied "N-nice to meet, y-you Hitomi. I-I'm Alissa."

Alissa smiled again as she nodded her head. "Yeah, I'm b-better now!" she replied. Though she still did stutter a tad bit. It sometimes took her awhile to get used to being around another person. She was like that during her classes before she got used to seeing all the people in the room each day. Recognizing faces but never talking to any of them enough to learn their names or personalities.
Alissa was always the one hiding in the corner of each class. To scared to be up front where people usually were picked to answer questions. She never had the guts to sit p there. She always liked to be in the far back where it made her feel comfortable. She never felt liek she was cornered in when sitting in the back. "Th-thank you, Hitomi." What she meant by thank you was that she was glad to know that she hadn't offended Hitomi and that the other was so nice.

Hitomi nodded in response. "That's a mighty big book ya got there." Hitomi said casually, trying to create conversation.

Alissa looked down at the book as though she had forgotten she were holding it. She chuckled a bit relieving the tension. "Oh, this book?! It's actually a very good story. There's dragons and everything in this old thing!" she replied. For once she actually stopped stuttering. Alissa hadn't noticed though for she was talking about how good of a story it had been. That broke the tension and thus Alissa wasn't nervous anymore.
"Oops! I'm talking you to death!" she exclaimed before giving a nervous laugh. "Sorry, I was just so drawn into this book that I believe I became a fanatic about it."

Alissa smiled back before getting back to her own feet now. The floor was cold and too hard to stay sitting on it forever. No one'd like getting a sora rear if they could help it. Especially when they had another class to go to later which hadn't very comfortable seats to sit on. She watched carefully as other people swiftly passed before looking back to Hitomi.
She really hadn't payed too much attention as to what the other House's colors were and was a bit confused by the crimson red coloring. She thought for a time before realziing that Hitomi was a Gryffindor. Not that it mattered for Alissa didn't care what house someone came from. She was a Slytherin, yes, but she never really associated with her own house that much nor did she shun the other Houses like the Slytherins mostly did. Since she did that, the Slytherin house usually tended to pick on her for it. Not that Alissa cared. She thought those that picked on her were just self-centered and were just insecure as she was.
At least she had the common sense to be friendly where some of her own house were rude. However, there were others in the Slytherin house too that were nice to other houses like Alissa but it was rare or uncommon to see. "So you're a Gryffindor I see. There's quite a lot of Gryffindors I see most of the time it seems though I'm a Slytherin I don't really pay any mind to the competition between houses."

"Yeah. Well, you can obviously ignore a lot because there's a lot of competition." Hitomi replied, noticing she was making friends with a lot of Slytherins. Maybe they weren't the stereotypical Slytherins. She hated the stereotypical ones.

Alissa smiled as she nodded in understanding from what Hitomi meant. Most of her fellow Sytherins were competitive and despised the other houses. Mainly Gryffindor. However, Alissa wasn't that type of person nor was she ever going to be like that. Treating others the same was how she went by in Hogwarts. Uncaring of how her fellow Sytherins treated her because of it.
Alissa surely was th insecure type but she wasn't ever one to switch sides either. No matter how badly she was picked on she never ever treated anyone differently no matter what house they came from. Being stereotypical was only being stuck up. Besdies, didn't the Sorting Hat mention a time once before that the houses had to eventually agree with each other and get along to survive these dark times? Lord Voldemort was still out there somewhere. "Yes, I'm sorry about how ridiculous most of my fellow Slytherins act. I really don't know how they can be so offensive to everybody else. Anyways, I'm not like that. Even though I do get picked on for being this way I still treat everyone the same. I'm glad to have met you, Hitomi!" said Alissa with a smile. Her fear gone.
